The compressor essentially does what its name suggests; it takes gaseous refrigerant, which at this point has collected heat from inside your home, and squeezes it into a high-pressure, high-temperature gas, which then enters the condenser. In the process of cooling your structure, the compression step is one of the most important. The gaseous refrigerant must reach a temperature above the temperature of the air outside in order to release the heat it collected from inside your home or commercial building.
